Food Pantry and Clothing Exchange:
Our Food Pantry service offers nutritious groceries free of charge on a weekly basis to low income neighborhood families. Dually serving and building the community, the service is staffed each Wednesday afternoon by our capable and devoted volunteers who are also clients of our Center. Currently, our pantry serves at least 100-120 families per week.
Our Clothing Exchange is a successful and popular service that offers new and gently worn clothing donations to our needy families. In addition to clothing, we welcome donations of baby items, from strollers to toys. We also provide a diaper donation service for babies aged 0-6 months.
Social Services:
La Raza supports families in a variety of ways, ensuring that children in the Latino community are raised in a safe and stable family and community. We help people get housing, find jobs, offer translation and editing services, and provide general support to families and individuals within the Latino community.
Access to Free Legal Consultation:
La Raza provides free legal consultation, mostly (but not limited) around Immigration Law and Family Law. We also provide administrative, writing, filing, and editing support related to the production or completion of important documents.
Immigration Service:
One of our most successful and important services, the Immigration service at La Raza offers low cost services to both documented and undocumented immigrants in the Bay Area. We provide a safe, confidential, bilingual space for members of the Latino community to ask questions and explain their issues free of fear. Our staff ensures that our clients understand the complex immigration process, and assists clients in the breadth of immigration issues, including naturalization, visa petitions, work permits, translation of documents, and filing temporary protective orders.
Information and Referral:
We provide information and referral consultations to thousands of individuals each year on topics such as immigration, legal services, emergency food and shelter, housing, health services, employment, and employment training. La Raza maintains a digital database of over 900 Bay Area social service agencies, enabling us to link our clients with a vast network of appropriate services and resources. Our culturally and linguistically specific atmosphere fosters a supportive, safe, and close-knit environment for our clients. This program is crucial in assisting members of the Latino community in challenging and transcending the many obstacles they encounter on the road to self-sufficiency.
Parent Support Groups:
Our family support groups are designed to provide support and to encourage parent leadership. We provide a safe environment where parents can help each other by sharing skills and tools to cope with stressful and traumatic life events. We also offer court-certified parenting classes.
